Lights, Camera, Action! The December Membership Luncheon Meeting held on December 9 at Franklin Park Arts Center, was both informative and entertaining featuring a wonderful show titled Bringing Artwork to Life: A Performance by VSA Arts of Loudoun. Kellie Goossens, the Loudoun County liaison for VSA explained, “Dancers, actors and musicians perform original repertoire inspired by artwork created by DaVinci artists (the fine arts division of VSA). VSA participants are presented a piece of VSA DaVinci art work, and allow this artwork to create and unleash other artistic abilities that they never imagined they had – writing, composing, singing, choreographing and designing their own repertoire.! This new approach is more than entertaining an audience with acting, song and dance. This is a collaborative, participant-driven process which allows our artists to discover, lead, and work with their VSA friends!” The Holiday Luncheon is always a favorite. Members dressed in festive apparel and the venue provides a beautiful view of the western edge of Purcellville. Prior to the performance a buffet of sandwiches, sides, and yummy desserts was provided by Magnolia’s, a lovely Purcellville restaurant. President, Jim Bowmen opened the meeting, greeting members and reminding them of upcoming events. Other members also made announcements promoting Loudoun’s Bed and Breakfast establishments, Wine Country Tours, and various other business endeavors. A presentation of a donation check was made to VSA of Loudoun, an annual tradition. Tree of Life was also presented a check and a donation of non-perishable goods. Past Purcellville mayor, Eric Zimmerman was the “Spotlight Speaker of the Month”, speaking about his business, his past experiences, and love of Purcellville.
