Highlights of the Luncheon April 8th
The April meeting of the Purcellville Business Association was full of energy, updates, and opportunities for local engagement.
PBA President Jason Sengpiehl opened the meeting by thanking the organization’s generous sponsors and recognizing the hard work of its committee members. He encouraged all members to consider getting involved in a committee to help shape the PBA’s impact and direction.
Colleen followed with a preview of upcoming events, including the group outing to a Purcellville Vipers game — a fun, family-friendly opportunity for members to connect outside the typical business setting.
Shawn provided an update from the Communications Committee, focusing on improvements to the PBA website aimed at creating a more modern, accessible digital hub for members and the public.
Building on Jason’s invitation, Shawn encouraged members to express interest in joining a committee and getting more involved in the day-to-day work of the association.
Supervisor Tony Buffington was also in attendance and recommended the formation of a PBA advocacy committee to ensure the business community has a consistent, organized voice in discussions with the Town of Purcellville.
During her Town of Purcellville update, Erin expressed concern over the proposed budget and its potential implications for the business community. She urged members to stay informed and involved as the process unfolds.
Beth then addressed the group, encouraging members to sign a petition to recall certain town officials, citing dissatisfaction with recent leadership decisions and calling for greater accountability.
The meeting’s Spotlight Speaker was Tree of Life, represented by Jordan and Jen, who shared exciting updates about their work. They promoted their upcoming Pickleball fundraiser and announced the opening of a SimplyBe Coffee location in Purcellville. They also shared news that Tree of Life is consolidating its Sterling and Leesburg offices into a new central space in Ashburn.
Later in the meeting, Erin and John Heather gave a presentation on the future of the Main Street program. With the town potentially stepping away from it, they outlined how the community can continue the program independently. Their focus is on revitalizing downtown Purcellville, strengthening local businesses, and creating a more vibrant town center. They invited members to join the effort and help preserve the momentum Main Street has built.
To close out the meeting, the group held the traditional 50/50 drawing, with the winner generously donating the winnings back to the organization (didn’t catch his name) — a great example of the spirit of community and collaboration that defines the PBA.
