The 2014 PBA Board is sworn in.

new boardThe Purcellville Business Association (PBA) held its Annual Meeting Gala on March 13 at the Loudoun Golf & Country Club with President Jim Bowman taking the helm for the last time for his two year term. Daniel Abramson is the new President starting April 1. The evening event honored leaders in the community and new officers for the 2014 -15 were sworn in. A moment of silence was observed for recently deceased and beloved long time member Dick Mann.

It was an upbeat evening with around 60 people coming to enjoy the program and camaraderie. Former Delegate Joe May and his wife Bobby were in attendance as well as Gary Clemens, Clerk of the Loudoun County Circuit Court ( he administered the oath to the new officers), Mayor Bob Lazaro, Vice Mayor Keith Melton and Council members Joan Lehr and Tom Priscilla. The Mayor and Priscilla who are stepping down at the end of this term of office were recognized for their ten years of service to the town. Jim “Doc” Wiley is also retiring from Council at the same time but was unable to attend.

New this year was two awards from the Town. Jim Taylor representing the Purcellville Citizen Support Team accepted the Volunteer Organization of the Year award and Norris Beavers, the Volunteer of the Year award for his 30 years of service to the sports community.

PBA Board Liaison Joan Lehr received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Events Chair Judy Stearns, the President’s Award, and retiring Membership Chair Kim Patterson, Member of the Year. Outgoing Board Director Mark Nelis and Eric Zicht, Secretary were thanked for their contribution to the association.

President elect Abramson presented Bowman with a gift to thank him for his service. Bowman has previously served as president and has been a long time member. He displayed a plaque he received for a term served 1983-84.
